My Norwegian 142g SPS Dominated

Norway....
In The land of cold winters 9months a year, high taxes, expensive beer ($18 a pint) and petrol ($10 a gallon).... and non-existence og exclusive corals like ORA and Tyree, I've tried to build a little reef :crazy1:

After almost 3 years of trying and failing, I'd like to share a bit from my current Tank. A Whole Glass tank of 540L. 150x60x60cm, prox 142g.

This is a low-budget project, were my wift don't like me to spend time or money on it. Just make it look nice, she says (guess I'm not the only one LOL)

Almost every thing I got is therefor bougt second hand, or traded. Same as for the corals. 90% is traded fraggs, and ofcorse it still look like a fragg-tank to me....

I upgraded from a 240L (ca 63g) in november, and all moved to this new (last one). Now 4 months later, I've just got control of nutriants and the colours are on their way back :D

This is a long time project, and time is my friend.

Got a 6x54wT5 lamp, my old one, missing 6" in each end of the tank....
A cheap chineese skimmer (boyu)
Same with the N/P-reducing biopellets reactor (boyu)
2 x Old Tunze 6100. One of them with a controller.

With all the knowledge found here, plz fel free to koment, good or bad, unless its about my bad english :D

Great corals are hard to get here. As I said ORA or Tyree are like non-exicting. But a few nice pieces I got. There is a lot of growing to be done LOL

The photografic skills could be better.....

18$ a pint? Thats insane. If that was the price in the USA there would be riots in the streets! :spin1: Ever thought about drinking the sweet brew of freedom here in the US? "America is a shining city upon a hill whose beacon light guides freedom-loving people everywhere." (at least it was):debi:

Tank looks good I like the last pic of the sunset monti.

Sweet tank i like your rock scape and $18 dollars for beer is crazy but $10 dollars a gallon for gas is insane i thought almost $5 dollars per gallon was bad.

Few pics from building this "inwall under the stairs" project.

very nice tank, corals will look great as they grow. Thanks for sharing your struggle to have a nice tank. We have things easier here and sometimes it's nice to get a reality check to keep us aware of that fact. Good luck in the future.

Thx. ;-) can't actually complain. Got 3 LFS's within a half hour drive. But still I cry when I check out sites of fragg-dealers in US. Both prices and the amount of goodies are nothing like here. And the rules of exporting even cultured corals stops shipping out. Got 1 dealer her now trying to import some premium corals. But prices from over $500 is not in my budget. Luckily it has to become fraggs available in a while. And actually I like fraggs best. Watch them grow is the fun part.
Reef on :D

Saturday me and my family is hitting London. Hopefully i can do a tiny pitstop at a LFS, atleast for a little peek.

1 Day is waaay too little time.... when you travel with wife and kids lol. No LFS for me this time.

2 FTS of my tank...

and 1 of my new favourite fish (I'm a coral guy)

Here in the north Georgia mountains, a few bags of corn, a barrel and copper pipe goes a long way, if you know what I mean:hmm5:
