My overflow & sump are loaded with these

These sponges, are they good or should i get rid of them?

I've got a ton of them in both my overflow and sump as well. They're fine, as they just grab food and crap out of the water. They're cryptic filters, like what was discussed in the Advanced Topics forum.
 
i got some pink sponges the grow like arms..that choke out my zoas.. thier a pain..but i got a yellow sponge like six inches long
an 4 inches across.. its cool lookin..

actually those are tunicates. I work in a shrimp lab using filtered seawater down to .5 microns. the larval forms of these are smaller than .5 microns so we get these every now and then. they are great filter feeders.

nope.. they are pineapple sponges.
