my pincushion urchin is losing spines!!!

hi i got my urchin yesterday and already its losing its spines and i dont know why. how can i combat this?

Stress can cause this. When I first bought mine I had similar concerns. It bounced back nicely. Be sure to provide optimum water quality and "target feed" it algae sheets for a while. Enjoy it! They're quite cool!

Stress, malnutrition, and poor water quality can all contribute to spine dropping. Make sure there is enough food, nothing is bothering it (including you), and check your water chemistry.
