My RBTA anemone completely closed for days

Hello,

I've had my RBTA anemone for a couple of weeks now. He looked fine, seemed on his side he was starting to split a bit (less than an inch).

I don't necessarily feed him, when i feed the fish he just grabs whatever comes his way.

On Monday he managed to grab two really big pieces of food and gobbled them up.

Ever since then he's been closed. Completely shut. Occasionally you will see his tentacles protrude a bit but that is it. He doesn't open in the day, doesn't open at night.

Is there any advice? I figured maybe those two meals were pretty big and he doesn't need to see light at the moment but i'm starting to get worried because it's been 5 days.

I've kept BTAs for about 30 years of the 40+ I've been in the hobby. If there's an anemone that's nearly bullet proof that'd be a BTA.

2 weeks is about normal acclimation. I wouldn't even try and feed one before then. In fact if you've got good light I'd suggest you don't feed them at all. But most hobbyists don't have that kind of restraint.

It sounds like it's digesting the food and it was weak. The energy it takes to digest large pieces of food is significant.

What kind of light do have it under ?

I've got RBTAs growing in 400 PAR under LEDs and they're lovin' life. They also get a full hour of direct sun daily.

He's fine I reckon. :) Let him finish digesting the food and he'll be back to normal. Digesting food does take a lot of energy, but don't forget that's also to produce more energy. XD

Ya, I'm sure he's fine. Just let him be. I think too many people freak out cuz nems do funny things and then by them trying to help, they actually stress the poor animal out. No worries, give it time.
