Been in the hobby since about 99, so even though I consider this a new tank at 5 months, some of the cultures in it are at about 6-7 years:
65 gallon, 20 Gallon sump with approximately 12 gallons.
Mag 9.5 return pump on a SCWD
2x MJ900 for circulation and to maintain flow on my CPR CS 90 overflow.
CPR BakPak
4" DSB
60 lbs assorted liverock, mostly Fiji and Tonga. Some pieces 7 yrs old.
Sump/refugium in progress. Growing Chaeto under 6500 K 26 watt PC. Needs sand or miracle mud. Liverock rubble as natural Bio-Balls. Sump is baffled.
Lighting is a 250 DE 14000k XM (I think, upgrading to a Hamilton this month) in a PFO pendant, powered by an IceCap that I've had since '04.
4 Blue Chromis, about 9-10 months old.
Bicolor Blenny 18 months old
Diamond Goby 2 months old
Snowflake Ocellaris 1 day old
There's a Magenta Dottyback in the sump. She kills fish. Up for trade.
Porcelain Crab 6 months old, thriving
White Banded Serpent Star 1 year old
Serpent Star 1 year old
10 Blue leg hermits
10 Red leg hermits
10 Astrea
5-7 Turbos
Sea Hare 3 weeks old
2 Emerald Crabs 4 days old
Sally Lightfoot 2 months old.
Fighting Conch 6 months old
I had a leather die on me 2 months ago
Magenta Dottyback nipped and harassed a Coral Beauty to death.
Various sponges
Mushrooms growing with no light in back of rocks
Green Zoas, up and down over a year
Xenia growing well over a year
Tunicates? 1 survivor 8 months old. LFS called it Tunic Coral. Dumb Kid.
Brand new 50 GPD RO/DI
15% water change every 2 weeks.
Kalkwasser ATO, sometimes with vinegar.
Kent Essential Elements, 5ml after every water change
0 Nitrate
0 Phosphate, but I bet it's leaching out of the rocks because if poor maintenance of my last ro/di, so a small area of GHA in a corner if the tank that sees a little natural sun
Ca I would guess by my dosing is in the 300-400 range. I say thus because my Salifert test is 5 years old and I have personally seen me getting to the edge of preciputation. With my dosing, the level cannot be at the 230 ppm the test reads.
Ph is 7.8-8.0 which is a problem since I began reefing in the late 90's. Most likely has to do with technique.
Temp 78-82
Salinity 1.026, but slowly dropping to 1.024
Tank in its current incarnation is 5 months old.
Wants?
1 more Snowflake clown.
1 Dwarf Angel
1 Dragonette (mandarin or exotic)
More zoos!
Ricordia!
Heteroxenia
Blue Xenia
Some Brains!
A leather
Some Acros and Montis and catalyphillia for the reef top.
Possibly an anemone, but doubtful as my stocking list is quite extensive. Maybe a hammer or a torch instead
Oh and a few clams. One deresa one trocheus.
What do you all think?
