I had to "quick fix" it because the pic was taken at night with a flash and the pic turned out too dark. The shroom looks that way in person, under lights. I have an old pic when the original piece was just a nickel size and it was the same coloration as the above pic. I have 3 pieces in that rock now and I placed a piece of oyster shell to the right so I can have several colonies in different places in my tank. The biggest piece at the top is about 2.5 - 3 inches in diameter when fully open. It would be nice to have more in different places in my tank. Thanks guys.
Appaloosa, nice rhodactis you have. Mine have those branching "tentacles" and very striking rainbow colors as you can see in the pic. I want to propagate these. It would be interesting to see a mat of these beauties. I have 3 so far. It started with a tiny piece the size of an eraserhead. Hopefully it will multiply faster now that there are 3.
Landolakes, I am allowing nature take its course. I am not going to frag artificially because I want to see how big they can get before they spread. So far, there are 3. I just placed them on top of several plugs on the tank floor hoping they will spread. The nice thing I noticed is that when they are all open, you cannot tell each individual shroom. It looks like a colorful rug I will keep you in mind when I am ready to part with the frags.
