My Sea Horses quit eating!

Help, my Sea Horses have quit eating...I have 2 very small Kudas in my 3 gallon Picotope along with a pair of blue stripe pipefish. I have had it set up for just over a month and put 3 little kudas in it about two weeks ago, one quit eating in about a week and soon died, now the other two are doing the same thing. We have tested the water and everything is fine. They were eating great when I got them and did for awhile. I have been feeding frozen mysis from Hakarii. Please can anyone help me?
Thanks so much, Debbie

If you are serious about trying to keep that much stock in 3 gal of water, that is the problem.

Please set up and cycle a larger tank( at least 30G) immediately or you are going to lose the remaining stock.

Please do some serious research on the keeping requirements of seahorses and Pipefish.

I put them in a little 3 gallon tank, as the store where I bought them have had the same set up for more than 6 months and are doing great! But if that could be the problem I will put them in the 24 gallon right away...

I agree, I wouldn't try to keep one in a 3gal. The store is probably doing a small water change every day just to keep them alive. It can be a misleading display, I've seen it before.

I have now put the two little kudas in my 24 Nano!! They still are not eating, but hopefully they will start to soon. I guess I should start to take what they say at the store with a grain of salt.....How many Sea Horses is the usual figure per how much water?

Hi Debbie,
That is excellant that you have moved them to a more appropriate tank.

Try target feeding them(placing the food very close to them).
Offer them a variety of live foods, such as small ghost shrimp or even brine shrimp that have been fed something good ,like spirolina. It is extremely important that they begin eating soon.

Remember it will take them a little time to get used to their new tank and feel comfortable.

I did do research! And my mistake was listening and believing in someone who is suppose to be very knowing of the sea horses and their environments.... Thank you for your suggestion of the live food, and will be going to get that now!

Debbie, to give you an idea, our kuda at the 6 month old mark are often at the 5 to 6 inch range. By 10 months or so they can normally reach up to 5 to 8 inches and be close to full grown.
