My Sharks in HD

The heraldi part of it really blows my mind, because the true heraldi is just a bland, straight yellow fish right? Where does the tiger striping come into play with a heraldi aberration?

The angels are beginning to show some tiger stripes. I guess they are Panda angels. Any idea what they sell for?

too newly identified would be my guess...I have only read about them but have not actually seen one for sale under that name...I suspect this will change shortly...

As a side note, I have a bumblebee grouper that I'm looking to sell. PM me for more info.
Also, in that first video, you can see a fish that shoots out to grab food I believe he does it twice. That is a rare Anyperodon grouper, Slender Mimic Grouper. The only time I've seen one for sale was on DD maybe six months ago. When young they mimic Halichoeres spp. Wrasses a d surprise their prey with a much bigger jaw/mouth. As I said, I've only once ever seen this fish for sale. Its quite beautiful. PM me about him as well

In addition, I have what I believe is an Epinephelus ongus. Although with varying online identification sites it may also be E. summana. I believe its E. ongus however and it is absolutely gorgeous if you love Black and white coloration like I do. As you may have guessed, I used to have a thing for groupers. LOL.

My favorite fish is the BB grouper. In the lagoon years back I had a very large E. lanceolatus. About 3 feet when I sold it. It was so intelligent. It recognized me from other people. It would let me touch its forehead even though it easily could have bitten my fingers completely off. I can only relate it to a dog, it was that intelligent. However the person I sold it to had a large shark pool and after he introduced the grouper to it, the grouper killed a four to five foot swimming shark sadly.

Anyway, I'm now a tang and angel aficionado lol. But I'll never get over my love of Elasmobranchs (cartilaginous fish such as sharks, rays and ratfishes).

the do pop up but get so darn huge....you should get into triggers...I find them to be incredibly dog-like...

Triggers are fantastic too. Especially the Rhinecanthus spp. Your collection is awesome.
Can you officially say you have every species in the Rhinecanthus genus? I know you have two of the rarest, the Lunula and Cinereus. Wheres a big Assasi, (big) Huma, Rectangle, and Bursa in that tank? All of those in the same tank would be fantastic, as you see there subtle but great differences!! It might turn into a war zone however. LOL.

I know Humas are slow growers as I had one myself that I tried to grow up. It was soooo slow. Maybe the slowest growing fish ive ever had.

For anyone interested, I posted more Still Shots of the Hybrid Centropyge over in my thread in Reef Fish forum. I think the first pic is hilarious, ill post it here just for Sh&ts and giggles...

Fish only, much less sharks, is "not my thang", but it's easy to recognize when someone is passionately doing it right, learning, learning all the way. Folk like you and Humaguy are real credits to the avocation. I'm subscribing in the hopes of many more content laden posts in an area I know little about. Q: in the feeding video, what's the fish that zips out and back at warp factor 5? When I see things like that I realize why I don't belong in water. lol

Edit - NM - I see you mentioned that fish. Anyperodon. thanks.

Yep, Im actually trying to sell that fish, its really rare in the industry. Ive only ever seen it for sale on DD. Ive never seen it in person until the day I walked into the high end store where I purchase a majority of my livestock. At that time I was still heavily fixated on groupers and I immediately purchased it. Now that Im trying to keep reef-safe and happy :-) Friendly fish, I need to rid myself of these viscious groupers lol. I believe his rarity in the aquarium industry may just have to do with that warp speed you see in that video. He does about mach 3 when that food hits the water. lol. Hes a beautiful fish. Heres some pics of what he EXACTLY looks like.....

A new feeding video with all the changes to the lagoon:

Soooo.. I don't know if had mentioned that during the renovation of the lagoon, I purchased a new skimmer and pump. Actually 2 skimmers and that's because the first skimmer arrived in a hundred pieces thanks to the USPS. So the insurance claim is going thru for that, and they wonder why their going Bankrupt....
But the new skimmer is a Precision Marine Bullet XL 4. And man is this thing a monster. The pump on it is a Blueline 100HD, and man is that thing a monster too!!
The Bullet XL 4 has Duel Beckett "Bullets" that pull in more air than any venturi could dream off! And with the PM Beckett Bullet design I get to control the bubble size down to a hundredth of an inch.

So long story short, I had the Blueline pump plugged into a relatively new but used Surge Protector since the day I set it up. I had had a few complaints about the skimmer and was wondering if I needed to upgrade the pump to the recommended Reeflo Hammerhead. When I fed, put my hands in the water, added Top Off, did a water change, etc, etc, it took atleast 6 hours for the skimmer to start producing foam again.
Anyway, the other day, Im doing maintainence, and I happen to hit the pump with a long piece of PVC right on it's transformer. All of a sudden, the pump kicks into a higher speed and Im getting foam even though I had literally just fed the entire pond and tanks. That never happened. So I ran up stairs and Checked all the electronics to see if we had had a power surge, but everything looked fine, nothing was out of whack. So I said to myself, Maybe Im not getting enough Amperage to the pump because of the 12 outlet Surge protector its plugged into. So I found an extension cord that had accepted grounded plugs and I plugged it directly into a wall outlet and BAM, that pump took of like a SuperJet.

I thought I had been getting good foam production and dry skimmate previously, but now I can officially say that this is THE absolute best skimmer/pump combination on the market for commercial and large tank systems. I totally believe them when they say that you can totally control your TOC levels to whatever your needs are. I believe this skimmer can remove almost all organic carbons in a large enough molecule within my pond, including during and after I feed. Ill post some pics of the skimmer and skimmate that Im getting out of this thing.

Im truly astounded and so pleased with a product that Im actually 100% satisfied with.

I can finally say my male Chiloscylium griseum s are maturing quickly as their claspers are getting longer and calcifying. The females are looking good too! They are getting nice and wide. Good for making eggs! I'll get some close ups with my real camera today.

I've noticed some thing about my Moorish Idol. After every feeding of frozen food, PE Mysis supplemented with Zoe and Zoecon, the next day its banner is between nine and ten inches long! Its amazing how fast it grows and I wonder what mineral or protein it is that makes the epethelial tissue multiply so fast making the tail grow ten Inches overnight

As a side note, the HLLE on the emperor angel has already improved tremendously. If I can get a closeup of that as well I will. I'm hoping for a bit 100% recovery. The holes in its head were so deep when I got it. I've never seen anything like that.

On the other end of the spectrum , the hybrid angel is developing Popeye on his good eye despite the medications I've been treating with. Soooo... He's completely blind. :-(
He can smell food, even pellets, and reacts quite a bit to the odor but he just doesn't eat. He can't find it. I'm going to see how this progresses and I might have to consider euthanizing this beautiful animal.

Just purchased a seven inch Red Sea Sailfin tang. Another slight rehabitation project. Lateral line is fine and the fish is fatttt. But some real erosion around they eyes.

I've noticed that depending on how severe the HLLE it usually takes roughly one month in the system to totally reverse the symptoms. That Emperor angels head is almost completely closed up but still needs fattening which worries me about worms still. But on the other hand if it still had worms would it be healing up so well? Probably not.

Will post pics of this beautiful Desjardini later on. Since his addition, all of the fish are out and about! Just what I've been hoping for!
