I decided to replace my current octopus nw150 skimmer with a euroreef cs80. A friend of mine was upgrading his skimmer so I decided to upgrade to the euroreef. I started this morning around 9 am.

First I let the skimmer soak in vinegar and water overnight (Not my shoes)

Then I got a look at were the euroreef is going and how to take out the octo.

Here is the octo out of the sump

After the octo was out began to clean the euroreed with water and a special tool

Size comparison the octopus is bigger but the euroreef is taller

Cleaning the octopus pump in vinegar water it was pretty dirty

The euroreef pump was pretty clean my friend had cleaned it before so I did not need to soak it vinegar water mix.

sounds quieter than the octopus, but after running the octopus in the mix for and hour it quieted down as well. Just need to clean the octo and she will be up for sale. Ill post a thread in the for sale section.

No upgrade or build thread would be complete without some refreshments

I'll be interested to see your results from the upgrade. Personally, I'd think the nw150 would be a better skimmer than that particular ER, but maybe you'll have better success with the euroreef. Good luck!
