It's not a FULL DIY. Some guy on ebay was selling them for 35$, all you have to do is add a ballast, bulb, socket, uv glass, fans, and you've got a sweet light!

guitargod: Just curious as to why you think my tank sucks? I mean i'm open to criticism.
 
ok, cool. still a sweet set up. If you have more pics of how you set it up, I woundnt mind seeing them. And I wouldnt bother with guitargod, I dont think his nano hugged him enough as a child.

Guitargod is not able to respond at this time ;) Don't let it effect you. What really counts is how your tank looks TO YOU.
 
Tank looks good! Can you give me more info on that pendant? I have one just like it that I got used from someone, and I need to buy another to match it. Thanks!

I don't know why he freaked out like that, that was uncalled for. I think you tank looks really good. Seems like everything is healthy. I'm still a little nervous about putting any SPS in my tank, i don't want to spend $50-$80 just to kill it lmao I really like you light to, makes the light look "clean"

For those that wanted more info on the light.
There used to be an ebay seller that made these.
It's a sandwich aluminum-composite-aluminum piece bent to shape with a reflector on the inside. It came with holes from fans too!
I haven't seen them on ebay for a while sadly.

Poorcollegereef: I have tons and tons and tons of setup/build/etc pictures. If you want to see them shoot me a pm or something i'll link you. I think the whole setup cost me something like 300$ sans livestock. :(
I'm a poor college reefer too.

midknight: BBQ? I have a few appliances that look like my stand/tank. Appliance epoxy seems to work reallllllly well for repelling water. :D

DgenR8: I think my tank looks dirty. It's a good thing the camera can't pick up on all the planaria hiding in there.

Cutiewitbooty: Don't bother paying 50$ for some sps. Just stick in a cheap monti cap or digi frag and see what happens. You'll be surprised how easy it is to keep them happy(although you might also find yourself surprised how fast and easy is for them to become unhappy).
