My tank build!

Hello all! I didn't post a build thread here but I did on my forum:

http://www.terraforums.com/forums/showthread.php/136620-adnedarn-s-reef-tank-build-and-progress

http://www.terraforums.com/forums/s...!-Help-please-you-guys-with-quot-The-Eye-quot

But I'll move stuff here to make a thread and try to update it when I do the others. =)

Basically a friend online helped me pick out most of my equipment... Then I tossed it all together :p I had a few different attempts with my rockscape...

My first "final" attempt...

Here is a quick video showing the rough of it when I was doing a wet test...

6/17/2014 20% water change set up QT tank

Thanks! Here it is as of right now (with my still messy tech board) with the snails, hermit crabs, and extra 10lbs of live rock (which will all be removed except for the branch looking one laying in the sand on the right/can't really see it)

I believe most have decided it is hydroid jellyfish and won't last long. I've been told they can be a part of cycling a tank by some. And others just say they are hard to keep long term. I have seen a few people say they will stick around but won't be a problem, and the fewest people have said they will cause a problem. I've decided to move forward and see what happens.

Looks awesome. I got a few frags you can have if you're ready for some corals. Send me a PM if you're interested.

Newsalth2o invited me over to his place for a visit and some stuff. It was a great visit with a really nice guy. I was there for quite a while (didn't even realize it till I was driving away, I hope I didn't overstay my welcome!) and walked away with a lot of questions answered, new questions that need answering, and an awesome start for my tank (which are now in the QT tank).

I wanted to put out a public thanks for the hospitality and share what I got home with.

Wife picked out a few frags at the 4th of July sale at Fishy Bizness yesterday, 2 were open a few hours of getting them in, but this morning all 4 are.

Yah, we probably have no idea how much space each of these things take up or how many the tank will actually hold. Probably a common newbie issue, huh? Always end up taking stuff out later to swap it for something you'd rather have...

That's OK too. That helps everyone get different stuff. Be careful with the Kenya tree. They really took over my tank for awhile. I had to slash and burn to control them.

Picked up 3 more clowns yesterday to go along with the one that had been given to us thinking maybe they'd break off into 2 pairs or something... I did a 1 hour dip in para guard, all seemed to be doing fine except of the two we got that were out of the same tank, one of them was kinda picking on the other, so I isolated that guy into his own dip container (odd since they were in the same tank together at the store). I then acclimated them out of that into tank water and put them into a new bowl with tap water, then into the qt tank (to make sure all the para guard was rinsed off well). The light was off, but when I checked on them 3 hours later, the one that seemed to be getting picked on by his original tank mate was dead. :-\
On the brighter side, "Spike" was given to me since he was getting picked on in his original tank. In my QT tank he always just hid under the filter, even when food is dropped in, he jumps out only a few inches to get it. If the food is further than that, he retreats and lets it fall. Now with the two new guys in, he's coming out a lot more. The three of them appear to be getting along great. Not sure if it normally takes them a while to get mad at each other or whatever, but so far so good!
The new guys: (the one that died was a more typical coloration guy and was a tank mate of the oranger one)

Black/white guy is officialy "Omen" and no name on the other yet.

Sorry about your one guy but I'm glad to hear the others are doing well. It will be interesting to see how their relationships evolve. I was hoping that as I moved my original clown from my 90 to my 180g I could add another and they might pair up - since nobody had established territory. Didn't work - they live on opposite ends of the tank. At least they don't hassle each other much and who knows, maybe someday? Let us know how it goes.

In my experience so far its 2-3 or 5 clowns. It seems like it has to be odd numbers if its not a single pair. Every time I've had four one gets booted out.
