Well I had a 36 gal corner bow front tank that I liked alot. I was looking at my tank last week and decided i needed a bigger one so I came across a 56gal from Petsmart for a great deal so I bought it. Well I was planning to do a step by step tank swap thread but it didnt go as planned.

Here are some pics of my old tank and my new tank

There are a couple of things that I need to do to consider my new set up complete. First I need to re hang the light as it is not sitting directly above the tank.

My second dilema is on which protein skimmer to get. I am going to instal a sump with an over flow box and dont know which of these to use:

BUBBLE MAGUS NAC 3.5 NEEDLE WHEEL PROTEIN SKIMMER

or

Octopus NWB-110 Needle Wheel Protein Skimmer

They are about the same price and as far as reviews go, they are about the same.

Which one would you recomend?

Great job!!! It looks like everyone made safe during the transfer. Tank looks fantastic.

As far as the skimmer goes, I would go with the Octopus. I just here great things about these skimmers and they keep their value. So if you wanted to upgrade again and get a bigger skimmer, you can easily sell it for what you paid for it just about.

Thanks, there were three casualties, a six line wrasse, a cleaner wrasse, and my favorite a tail sot blenny. Yesterday morning I tested my water and found the PH @ 7.4 so I started adding ph buffer every two hours. Everything else seems to be stable. I have a light rolling bacteria clowd in the tank but that is now slightly visible.

As far as the skimmer goes I am probably going to get the octopus, I am curently running a HOB octopus on the tank that I got used from Dennis and let me tell you I love that thing.

Thanks J! it took me about three hours to interlock all of the rocks nice and snug.

I would also like to thank Ryan Paskadi for the rock and corals, and Tim Gentry that tyree toadstool is sweet. On that note, I still have empty spots on parts of the tank, If anybody has something cool you might be willing to part with, pm me.

Well, I will throw this out to everyone - I have xenia by the bucket loads if anyone wants any. Honestly most non-reefers who look at my tank like them the most. I guess all the movement!! Let me know....

Jay, if you really want to get rid of the xenia you are going about it all wrong. You have to say rare, ultra color, ultra grade pulsing ( do not leave out pulsing) xenia. Now if you do that, everyone and their brother will want some and will pay you for it. Am I ever going to be able to teach you anything?

Yes,yes thanks!! I did forget to mention their pulsating abilities and the rarity of these fine specimens!!

Awesome job I loved your old one I bet you this one is going to be ten times better. I love all those nice colors it very alive.

Thanks Steve, the tank you saw is the new tank.

Thanks Hans, I know I have reached a stock limit but its hard to resist new coral.

Yeah, I know what you mean. Was over at Steffens house and he had a bunch of goodies he just fragged! You know how hard it is to walk away with out any beautiful corals?! It's like trying to walk away from a guy selling pot or offering you a Jeffery. Lol.

You should be ok in adding corals sense the bioload on them is not that much at all. I am ordering a bunch of Lps and sps at the beginning of the year. Just have to make sure that I keep up on mg, ca, and alk. I am maxed out on fish though.

well ive never tried drugs in my life, but i know what you mean. and again the tank looks better in person, i keep talking about a better camera, and it can be done before x mas, but then also a mp60 could be just as good in its place, hmmmmm???? ugh.
