Its a 25 gal been set up a year now .

Nice .... But if I can suggest...Stack more rocks, higher & wider....Now that you have the lower income housing doing very well. Try to get the higher income housing going.......Make it a REEF...stack & pile.

Ahh, you make my aquaruim look like poop! Maybe ill post it, and you guys can give me tips, yours is awesum!

Hello coraline! I actually like how the rock work is set up, but I bet in a couple of more months when you get some more growth from those corals, and possible even more corals that tank will look even better. make sure you keep us updated on any more additions to the aquarium. Great Job.

Now is it ok to buy rock directly from the LFS that is cured and has coraline growing on it and put it right in tank . I added some before that was like i described . it was ok. I got a 75 gal and want to get it going with a rock package and clean up crew package from Richard at Tampa bay.

if its cured i don't see why not, but I would only do this a few pieces at a time just in case stuff does die on it so you don't get a spike in anything.

There seems to be alot of "junk" floating on the surface.
What are you doing to break the surface up and skimming it?

Seems like you have good coraline growth so that is a great sign.

What type of lights are your running?
Overall looks like a good start.

It does look good. I agree with rock placement though. Having it packed means no and low flow areas and CUC wont reach all the debris that will collect under in in it. It will take time like months or yrs depending on amount of stock and feeding habits and flow from amount to placement. Then its harder to place coral.Coral have a much smaller bio load then fish and require space.
So rock placement is just as important as water source or water changes or ect..

brownish film on surface no floating debrie just the way photo was taken . I don't have a skimmer LFS said i realy don't ned one and where wouldI put it no room as you can see. Can you let rock lay on back glass hard to pile it. More rock less water is this a problem?

wonder what that film on water is I have spray bar pointed up at surface and power heads move it quite a bit. would like to move it more though

gimme some info please...my tank hardly has any coraline algae if any...what type of salt do u use and do u dose anything?...is that spray bar connected to a canister filter?...any other info would be appreciated

you should get the mods for those maxi jets, you'd get a better dispersed flow from them. woogy, growing coraline is all about water parameters and light. You need about 3 watts to grow it, plenty of calcium and magnesium and everything else needs to be in check.

Mods you mean the deflector that goes on the discharge ? I tried them cuts flow presure down took them off works better .I grew all coraline you see. i baught this tank set up was a mess will post before pics someday.

I have about 5w per gallon with 39wX4 in my 29 gallon...what are good parameters of calcium and magnesium for good coraline growth?...paramters are all good...the only thing high is nitrates which is about 10
