I was looking for a bigger back generator. after several hours of comparing generator a with generator z at store a at store z, pawn shops, second hand stores ect i came across a 10hp 5,550w run with an 8,550 peak for a grand total of a whopping $ 200.00(no tax). the current year equivalent model and brand is 899 plus tax
one pawn shop had a smaller one that i was not interested in and the owner asked me what size i was looking for..my answer was the biggest one i can get for the cheapest..long story short he had this one and i got it for 200 because he could not get it to start..as an retired aircraft mechanic i looked it over and determined it was a good generator/engine so i bought it... 15 minutes of work of cleaning out the varnish coating in the carb from old gas the generator works like a brand new one and the hour meter shows 3.7 hours of usage.. 12 hours now since i did a full load test run(actually my load was less than a full because i tested with the equipment i would run on it during a prolonged power outage, 4 tv's(1 for each kid and the wife/mine), fridge 5 lamps and approx 1500w of tank equipment(7 tanks fowlr/reef/and freshwater) and the 7 gal fuel tank still had fuel in it after 12 hours of test run.
it has been sitting for 4 days since the test run and with the possibility of power outage last night i went to check and make sure it would still start..one pull and engine roared to life
not bad for 200 bucks and 15 minutes of my time i would say
