Scowii...have you seen that species of Eunicid worm eat stoney coral? I too have a number of those in my tank and I have never witnessed them eating stoney corals.

I would support that they might have a taste for soft coral..but not SPS.

I've found them to be entertaining critters that will learn to respond to stick feeding. I believe they are the reason that I can't have any Xenia in my tank.

Well I just read the article. They said they eat stony. Its kinda hard to catch them. I know where about 3-4 of mine hand out at and I watch them eat the purple stuff off the rocks then they spew it out.

I not on those worms. I had a few free swimming one that looked very similar to the Eunice. I think they were the same. I caught them swimming at night. They were attracted to the light of my monitor and swam to that end of the tank. It made it easy to catch them. So maybe they are attracted to light? I have not seen any more since I caught those 6.

Well I reworked the rock and removed some of the culerpa. Things are looking much better so I took some pictures

Full tank shot - Aquascaping is very hard with these rocks and a 55. I need a bigger tank I think

Flame scallop after he swam all over the tank then wedged himself between the false wall and some rock.

Some cool clam. I am going to move him later to a spot facing forward lol.

Some of the hard corals. These I think are bleaching a bit on top. I have heard that is common with them.

This is another type of hard coral. Longer polyps. Very cool.

Sponge. need to figure out how to mount them.

two gorgonians. Need to get a better place for them.

Condy Anemone. IN the back right is a purple whip gorgonian. Also a few hard corals on the flat rock.

Over all I really like the rock. Tons of different critters all around. I just need to lick the hair algae problem and I will be good to go.

Very nice. As far as the red and orange spongy things I sand bedded them next to some rock. And they seem to be doing good. My flame scallops (two) one is perfectly fine at the sand bed and the other one just spews himself all over the tank.

will the sponges encrust on to the rocks eventually?

They should. But in most instances from what I hear they usually wont make it since they are filter feeders and require tons of feeding.

I am feeding a couple times a week a cap full of DTs reef blend. I have a nano culture that is just about mature too. That is what I plan to feed mainly.

i should be getting some tbs soon, would it be best to put the sponges temporarily in my established reef tank (not getting the new rock in this tank) to prevent loosing the sponges during cycle. i feed my current reef tank dt as well as other supplements so should get everything it needs to survive in there?

I lost every sponge that came with my shipment. All the pink and yellow sponges on the rocks had to be removed due to ammonia, and the little bit that was left slowly disolved. I have a few traces of some left, but don't get your hopes up. Also, Iv'e lost half of my tube corals, but I may have found the culprit. Get a good reef test kit and watch all your levels close. It will take a few months to get it all settled. But its still a good choice with TBS.

sorry... the culpret was high phosphates. once i got a phoshate remover, the tubes opened back up and seem to be doing good.

I ran phosban for about a month or so. Tested and it was a little high. I ran into a cyno issue that was actually a carry over from the rock in the previous tank. I am running chemiclean right now. and that should clean up my problem I hope. All the sponges that came as extras so far have survived. Some of the small ones on the rock have died but nothing extreme. Now if I can just trap that last mantis.....

Things are going well in the tank. Only deaths so far was a shrimp and the clam. Clam fell victim to a flat worm. All teh sponges are doing well as far as I can tell. I evicted this guy this morning. He was eating my hermits.
