My trip to Shedd Aquarium last weekend

Anyone who hasn't been to Shedd Aquarium in Chicago in the last couple of years, I highly recommend you go there! They've changed some things around, including adding a new 'Wild Reef' Section loaded with tons of SW stuff. My girls got a huge kick out of pointing out to all the other little kids in the place not only the 'Finding Nemo' name of the fish, but also its species name and watching the expressions on the faces of the parents is always priceless!

I was definately partial to the Lionfish tank they had, housing several of them, all in quite good size.

There is also a good setup of an acrylic SW tank, housing a whole slug of corals but behind it showing you the plumbing that it takes for all of the tanks. The skimmer they use for the one tank is pretty impressive.

I'll post the pictures as soon as I unpack the camera and offload them. :)

I was there a couple years ago and was fairly impressed. They had a lot of saltwater compared to the other aquariums i've been to. I just hate dealing with all the people and the long lines.

Look forward to seeing some pictures.

Sounds like it was a good time. I have always wanted to see it.. and I will get to in June for the Shedd tour during IMAC this year!!

Looking forward to those pics.

go during a week day :)

the wild reef is very nice, i have been to that exhibit a few times.. one of the times6 months ago the big coral tank was browned out, the other time [maybe a year ago?] it was pretty fantastic...

i acutally have a picture on my background of the HUGE clam they have in their SPS tank. I **** of my G/F cos I want to go there everytime we are in Chicago. Hopefully we can go to the boston aquarium when we hit boston up in may!
