Dear All,

One of my Tunze was found with outer layer of the electric cord was being peeled off due , will this cause any danger for electrocutions later specially it’s near to the pump heads that soaked in salt water all the time . The inner wire seems to be fine . Anyone has this same issue ? Please advise how to make remedy as the pumps still running fine .

If it were me, I would not use that, too much risk. I would reach out to Tunze to see if they can help you in any way.

I would replace the cord personally. Have you tested for stray voltage at this point with it? Keep us posted on how your contact goes with them.

Hi there , I wonder how to change the cord ? As Tunze reply wanted me to buy a new one . As this pump was produced 2017 according to the serial number appeared . I bought total of 4 pump (3 *6095 , 1 * 6044) at the same period but the other 3 pumps has no issue except this one which I think may be the origin is not made in Germany on this particular pump and in the cord it’s written something looks like a translated Chinese word (Xong Run). I have pumps of other brand that already running much older than mu Tunze but their cord till now still just fine . Sadly Tunze replies that it’s beyond warranty and no action whatsoever can offer to me.

If it were my powerhead, I'd just replace it. Too much risk of getting electricity into the tank.

I had the same thing happen with a Reef Octopus 2, an urchin chewed on the cord. CoralVue said there was no way to safely repair it.

Thanks for your advise and caring . As a matter of fact mine is not due to outside factors, it’s the cord materials that I suspect they use poor Chinese materials. My other local taiwan branded pump with several years older than Tunze still in good condition and until now still running well , no issue on the cord layer detached as my Tunze 6095.
