My Vortech keeps stopping.

I put my vortech mp20 on maximum speed in constant mode and after a couple of seconds it stops. I have centered and spaced correctly as far as I can tell. There aren't any vibrations coming from the wetside. Why does it do this?

did you play with the settings at all? I would run on different mode to see what happens and note the time.

Mine did this once when a snail got in there and the prop got to tight on the shaft. Try to take it apart and put it back together not so tight.

When it stops, does the led on the controller go out?

i just took my out let it sit in vinegar for a bit then put it on full blast for 24 hours and it seems to work fine now.

Yea, the light on the controller goes out. As for a vinegar bath I don't think it will have much effect since its almost new.

The MP20 driver has an internal breaker that will shut off the pump if it senses too much load. What is happening is the bearing which is comprised of the driveshaft in the ceramic bushing is getting tight. If you take the wet side apart, and can not easily separate the two, that is the problem. You can soak the parts and work them apart to where they are free. Call EcoTech support and talk to them about it. There are upgraded parts available that may help this. Running in Lagoon (purple)mode will be better.

Wow. I assume you had the same problem? Because I called tech support and they told me the exact same thing. I disassembled the wetside and it was very tight, I managed to remove the bearing but not without a lot of moving and tinkering. They told me this was a problem with a batch and that they are working to fix it so they're sending me a new driveshaft along with a bearing.

Yup, they were great.

I can't complain. The guy that helped was very kind and helpful.

The Vortech works great. Although the MP20 is rated for a max of 70 gallon tank, in my 75 I had troubles placing the vortech because at maximum flow it would kick up sand.

The same thing happened to my MP20 but it happened after a snail was in there and I heard a funny noise and look and the prop was rubbing on the snail shell. Then it got to tight from hitting the snail shell. So I took it apart and put it back together looser and its been fine ever since.
