My weekend

First I need to thank dbuesking (Dave) for coming over and hooking me up with dedicated cgfi power to the tank.

Then, the treated lumber stand just bothered me. I didn't want to regret using it 6 months to 1 yr down the line.
Rebuilt using regular 2x6 and 2x4. Also dropped the stand 2". It's right above 38" now. Got the inside coated with kilz. Trying to get everything done right the first time this time.
:D

I do envy those of you with enough space for a fish room. It is going to be tight cramming everything in the space I have.

That tank would be big for most fish rooms.

Looks great.

Let me know if you need some help ever for aquascaping or something, I'm not to far out.

I have to redo plumbing and a few more things like tear out some drop ceiling and reflector hanging/canopy building, then I will post a thread asking for help hooking all this stuff up. Bank acct. took a hit this weekend so can't do much more until next check.

you are going to have alot of fun with this stuff.

Yeah, I figure in a few short weeks I can officially join the " blue glowing basement club":D

Awesome tank...Hey fish room or craming it all under the tank does the job...alllthouuughhh it would be pretty sweet to have a room that i could lock and spend my afternoons in there lol

Looks like you stayed busy after I left on sat. That skimmer fits in there with no problems. If you need help with anything else let me know. Can't wait to see water in that puppy.

Definantley try to do things right the first time. I regret not paying closer attention to height of my stand, now i am very limited on what skimmer i can use due to the stand not being tall enough for alot of the more impresive skimmers.

Impressive skimmers.....like Chads collection?

He's the FastLane of skimmers!

Make sure you remove the styro from underneath your tank. With acrylic you want a stiff non-flexible platform for your bottom to sit on...

I would use something around 1/8" thick just in case a nail is not all the way in but with all the weight you have in the tank you are better without a thing and just making sure your surface is perfect.

With glass you are at higher risk without the styro. Acrylic is a lot more flexible and the bottom is the last place you want to flex...

My opinion on the Styro issue: Go with whatever was recommended by the tank manufacturer and stay within your warrantee :)

Oh, and the new stand looks great! Good Work
