My120G Oceanic Tech Series Build

well....

well....

unfortunatly my pick-up was to small to grab the tank and stand tonight, so I picked up the stand, and I will pickup the tank tomorrow. I have pics of the stand on the back of my truck after I carefully un-boxed it. I will move it into the house tomorrow. I will have pics of the tank tomorrow as well, but I will tell you this, It's freakin awsome. The euro-bracing is really sweet, is 3/4" Thanks to Jim @ Seascape Aquatics for tracking this tank down for me. now on to the pics..... :D

looks good dont you just love the tech series with the 3 opening sides i think its the best idea ever i use them all the time

If you are going with SPS then 2 x 6055 streams will not be nearly enough flow for the 120. I used to have an AGA 120 with 2 x 6000 streams on the multicontroller and wished I had more flow.

You really need at least a pair of the 6000's, preferably the 6100's.

Are you planning on keeping SPS? If so I would go ahead and get the Tunze 6100 streams. I am using a pair of 6000's in my 37 gallon on a multicontroller. When I upgrade to a 120 gallon I am going to upgrade them to 6100's.

I would also highly highly recommend getting a aquacontroller jr or something comparable. I couldn't live without one now that I am the owner of one.

Good luck on your tank. Can't wait to see it.

P.S. there is no way in he** I would drill that tank. There are too many other options to risk it.

yeah, I am probably going to go with the 6100's and a controller. well I picked the tank up today, and got it moved into the house. I have decided to move my RODI storage into the basement, and plumb the RODI unit down there. Looks like I need have electric and water run over to where I want to keep the Brute cans. I am going to upgrade my plugs to GFCI's where the tank will be located. I also need to touch up that area. These pics show the tank in our bedroom for now. I will be moved into it's final resting place when I have the area repainted, and the GFCI's installed. With moving the equipment downstairs, I will allow me to setup frag tanks later down the road. I will be buying 50# of marco rocks next month to start my islands.

Anyway here are the new pics.

That tank is AMAZING!!!!!!!!

I just placed and order order for a 70 tech tank, and cant wait to get it!!!!!!!!!!!

Nice setup! I'm hoping to start a 120 sometime this summer, so I will definately be following this thread. Could you provide more info on the overflow and the returns (dimensions of the overflow, number and size of the returns).

Thanks

thanks! Well I found a tunze kit that included the controller and 2 6100's for 800 bux. I think I will start out with 8 Hydor Koralia 4's. that 3600GPH, and only cost 60 a piece.

Thanks, Well there are 4 holes in the bottom of the overflow for 1" bulkheads. I bought 2 AGA magnaflow kits to fit that. the overflow is 4" wide and 18" long. there are 2 cutouts on either side of the overflow for the returns.

thanks. I might try the hydor's first, and then just upgrade to the 6000's or 6100's with that controller.

Thanks for posting your brand new Tech tank - look great BTW.

Question...

120G RR Oceanic Tech Tank Series. 3 panels of starphire glass.
I thought the Oceanic Tech Tank had only the front glass made of starphire?

in the oceanic brochure it said 3 sides. I don't have one to reference, but I am 95% positive that's what it said. I will tell you this, it's a heavy tank.... :D

ok so I had changed my mind and decided to go with the Tunze Turbelle Stream Kit TS24 which includes 2 6100's and the 7095 controller. Then while browsing the web yesterday I came across a site that showed off the Vortec... I saw the price, and for two, and the controller (maybe since it's not out, and there is no price yet) I would be in line with the price for the TS24 kit. So my question is, I have seen posts about people having trouble with them. I wanted to see what issues people were having, and If they are really worth it. I like the size, and having the motor housing outside the tank.

here is a link to the video... it appears to bew about a year old.
