so i finally got it all hooked up and got the software running. wow how easy is it now to setup your controller. i was very anti controllers because of how hard they were to set. this program makes it so easy to set whatever you want and whenever you want. anyone else use this software?

whatever man i already knew ud have something to say. i didnt know we had a program out that made you able to program it with a computer. awesome. ill still probably mess something up

Myreef is pretty slick. It has some issues, however, at the end of the day it makes it easy to do a lot without overwhelming you. On the RKL it makes a bigger difference than the RKE.

Glad you like it :)

If you have your ATO setup with it there is a nice way of programming it where it only runs once per X minutes. Easy on the pump and let's you make make waves in the sump without the ato going on and off

I love mine very slick and the best thing is no programming IMO. Looking at upgrading to the RKE and adding a few options down the road.

why did you choose the reef keeper over the apex?
Ive been looking into getting one and not sure what one id want?

i had the reef keeper before, and was kind of used to it. and when i saw this new software option, i was sold

Trying to figure out my RKL. I thought I could program it through my PC via MyReef.

What does your SID look like? Little black box with wires on both sides or a silver widget with USB on one side and wire on the other?

It is an SID 2.0, little black box with ethernet socket on one end and mini-USB on the other. I hooked up: PC- - - - SID - - - -- RKL
Thanks,
Steve

good, I figured start with the SID and go from there.

make sure you have the latest MyReef downloaded (build 78): http://www.forum.digitalaquatics.com/viewtopic.php?f=88&t=7885&p=30183#p30183

once installed reboot your computer - if you are more technically save press ctrl-alt-delete, click on the image name header (sorts alphabetically), then look for myreef - if it is running select and press end process. I've noticed it is possible to get a couple copies running and the MyReef software doesn't manage that very well.

get one copy started. let it start and give it a few seconds. connect the SID with nothing attached. you should see the SID show up under "systems" on the left hand side of the screen. click on the SID and a window will appear - to the right check the version to see if it says 2.08 of 2.08 - if it is red, click update and follow the directions.

Once you are through that, connect to an open port on the system using an extra cable.

let me know how that works and we can go from there.
