mysis = mysid?

I have heard people use the two interchangeably. I have also heard that there one of them more commonly refers to FW shrimp that are larger. I know the genus name of those little 2mm critters that run around in the fuge is Mysis sp.. Is it proper to call them mysid also (sounds like an adjective of mysis)? Is the FW animal also called by the same name related?

Mysid: Any of various small, shrimplike, chiefly marine crustaceans of the order Mysidacea, the females of which carry their eggs in a pouch beneath the thorax.

It seems the name could cover several genera, some of wich are fresh water.

In hobby, they're the same thing.
Mysis (and other genra) are grouped in a group called Mysidacea.

See more info here or in Invertebrate zoology by Ruppert, Barnes, Fox, page 652 and 653.
