Mysis Shrimp

I realize I'm posting a lot lately, so sorry to those who are sick of my username!

This is just a question I've had for a while, but when we feed mysis, do we need to enrich it with anything? Or as-is coming from the package adequate for good color and health of our fish and corals?

Once in awhile I will let it soak in some Selcon, but otherwise, thaw it and use it. There are some who will rinse it before use - I never have and don't wee the benefit.

i soak mine in selcon, i figure it can't hurt.

i also like to roll other things in to the diet. different kinds of flakes and nori specifically, to help make sure there is variety in my offerings. occasionally i like to treat with live worms.

You can try to soak it but it wont soak much since it is already wet. For soaking, i think dry food such as flakes, pellets and freeze dried are better choices.

depending on a persons tank style either method is appropriate (rinse - no rinse), I run mine higher in nutrients for bio-diversity, an ULN tank may suffer from not rinsed, I don't rinse. but if your trying to keep phosphate and un-captured food to a minimum rinsing or double rinsing is a good idea, if you want that food all over then don't rinse.

I can't remember the article I read about rinsed vs not rinsed, it was probably holmes farley or borneman (but don't quote me on that because knowing my memory i'm probably way off) anyway it was something about things experienced reefers do without thinking about that may seem small but make big impacts. damn my memory I wish I could remember where the hell the article was from (I know it was a reef magazine).

as for selcon, I generally use it on dry foods as they tend to absorb more of it rather than just coating it, {not sure the scientific validity of that claim since it may only be absorbing the water leaving most of the vitamins on the outside to wash away, I don't know} but in my mind it works.
