Ok I just bought 2 clam yesterday, Blue maxima and gold something. today I got home and the only thing that is left out of the gold is its shell it is completely clean out. I would have guest is something ate it it will have some meat left on the shell.

Anybody has any idea on what happen to it? Really puzzling.

thanks in advance.

Were the clams showing signs of stress?? Gapping?? Bleaching??

The clams could of died over night from the stress of changing enivorments. They could of died and the fish made a meal of them. I have seen fish that normally won't touch a clam while it is alive. But as soon as they died then they are food.

If you look around the rock wall. You will probably find the other shell.

seller said it is. And so far all it does is hide in the rocks right now.
And I did find both shell, it just weird that it is polish like nothing like in it before .

Well... when clams died.. they actually kind of melt. There tissue starts to become slimey and water soluble.

The tissue disappears quickly. In matter of hours..

not lately. the blue maxima is thriving now. So maybe it just got stress out, I am trying to find a good source of clam here in ILLINOIS and some of them sell their baby clam for $45 which I think is a little steep.
