hi all,
i have a fish tank running since feb, got about 7 fishes in there atm, few days ago i bought a longnose butterfly, still trying to get him to eat mysis shrimp. he was fine when i brought him then yesterday when i came back i saw white grain of sand like all over his body (none of my other fish has it or ever had it), i never have experience with itch before so i dun really know how it look like, but i presume its itch? can it develop that fast, from none to all over the body? the other thing is i woke up today and there none on the body. please note that i did not do anything, no dosing etc...just praying :P
so my question is can itch just come and go like that? or is it going to come back again? what should i do?

thanks in advance!

Ich moves all over the fish at any given time so you will see a spot one day and than it's moved into the gills or something unseen. Long nose usually take a day or two and can't resist worms so if you have access to blood or black worms try that. Your best bet is to clear all fish out of the system and Quarantine the fish for no less than 4 to 6 weeks, Ich also usually comes on and off the fish at night so that will explain why they go from clean to sandy over night. Do you use water straight from the ocean or do you mix yours? If you use ocean water than QT won't really do anything at all, if you do in fact mix your water than QT is your only option. If you use ocean water I recommend increasing your frequency of water changes.

hi, thank you for your reply,
yes i do use ocean water and why QT with ocean water wont do anything? i dont really have a QT tank atm, it got fish in it T_T
i can use a big 50lt container and have a filter in there with some air stone, but this filter might take a while to get bateria, can i use none copper base med to treat the tank? or should i put him into the container?

thanks in advance!
