Mystery coral??

I have what looks like a hammer growing in the back of my tank. Its red though????

This has got me scratching my head.....:strange: I gave the tank a serious scrubbing last night. Put some new bulbs in & added a new power head. (replaced the korillas w/ tunze. :spin1:) I never even noticed anything. Tonight I got home and ran down here to check it out & saw this red 2" round bubble thing swaying in the very back. Could it be a hammer??? Or is it a shredded red mushroom?? The tank is almost three years old. I'll try to get a pic but its way in the back under the center brace. I'll do my best.

here is a pic................

It is a kind of macro algae I believe. A few other people have had it. Do a search for weird macro, and/or post in the macros section and you will probably get an ID. I know it has been ID'd in the other posts.

Thanks Noahm. I check into this but didn't get to many takers.

For now I think its a mushrrom that got spit out of a pump. But I will be keeping a close Eye on this thing!!!

Watch it's growth. If it's a slow grower, it shouldn't be a problem. If it grows quickly you may want to isolate it from your main rock work.
