Mystery ID w/ pictures

When I moved my tank a local reefer kept all of my livestock for a couple of months and then shipped everything to me. When I got the shipment everything was fine except for this new... thing. I have no idea what it is, it looks kind of like the tentacles of a bubble coral but has no skeleton that I can see. I've never had a bubble coral in my tank, and as far as I know there weren't any other corals in the storage tank except mine. The "bubbles" are quite firm and do not withdraw at night. They're attached by the little bit of red tissue that can be seen in the second picture. Hermit included for scale. There's a red mushroom just to the left of it in the first picture. Ideas? Coral? Algae?

My first guess was a bubble coral but if you can't see the skeleton its a tough call maybe someone else will post.

That red tissue in the second picture is all I can see of the base of it. No skeleton visible.

You sure it's not just some bubble algae?

I don't know. It could be some sort of red alga, but I've never seen any like this.

I was thinking some kind of valonia after having gone sexual and gone clear.

But the red base is not typical valonia... which I guess you already knew!

looks like a small Colpomenia sinuosa ,which is another type of bubble algae. google up some images, the pic here is not that great.
