mystery wrasse-GONE!

i added a mystery wrasse sunday aft.. On monday it could be seen eating blood worms and flake, though since monday afternnon i have not seen it. not on the floor, overflows, sump or anywhere- GONE!
I have a melanurus wrasse and oblique-lined dottyback that were harassing him slightly but nothing serious, it was swimming around the tank eating and then the next day vanished. Is there still a chance it could have a really good hiding spot or be hunkered down somewhere in the reef? I kept a previous mystery wrasse in the same tank with the same fish for a year and a half until this past summer.....Has anyone had a new mystery wrasse hide for a few days? Still hope! I hope.....

How well covered is the tank? Did you check the floor around it?

They are prolific jumpers. And dottybacks don't like newcomers.

I've had fish disappear on me...never found them. Vanished!

It does suck to lose a fish, but Ive gone weeks without seeing some and then they just pop out like nothing happened.

Yes, Ive checked the floor, it is surrounded by ceramic tile all the way around. The tank has a canopy, with eggctate screen blocking at the back. My previous mystery wrasse did end up in the overflow twice.
If i had to put money on it now i think the dottyback is to blame. I'm gonna trade him into the lfs.
Though come to think of it, years ago, i did have a blue-headed wrasse hide for 10 days when first i first got it. So I'm gonna hope that he'll just "pop out"

Well egg crate will not keep him out of the overflow. My guess is the dottyback

I had a foxface do the disappearing act on me before! Never saw him again and he was nice and healthy too.
