mystery wrasse

Hi,

I have a 65 g sps dominant tank, with app 80lbs of live rocks. Here is my list of fish : midas blenny, purple firefish, 8 lines flasher wrasse(small), filamented flasher wrasse.

I saw a beautiful specimen of mystery wrasse yesterday(LFS). I'm a wrasse lover . I would like to know if it's a good idea to put a mystery wrasse in my tank.

I just wouldn't risk it because they jump caused by one of the other wrasses.

Mystery wrasses are risky for fairy and flasher wrasses.

even if fairy/flasher wrasses are introduce first? It's inevitable that the mystery will harass them?

Well, there is no such thing as inevitable in this hobby but the odds are somewhat against them being compatible. Mystery wrasses are gorgeous but a bit on the mean side.

Every single fish you have right now will more than likely irritate the mystery wrasse to the point where the mystery wrasse will always be showing constant aggression towards one of them. I wouldn't get one with your current fish list.

Mystery wrasses are one of my all time favorites, however unfortunately, they aren't really suited for the 'peaceful' environment unless your tank is +200gallons. They cope better with assertive, bold fish. In a 65 gallon with your current fish selection there is sure to be trouble.

I read an article article on reefkiping magazine and you guys go in the same way!!! pseudocheillinus aren't really suited for a peaceful tank.

so, I'm looking for a other peaceful wrasse, a fairy...(I already have two flashers). I want an unusual and colored specie

any suggestions?

I've been thinking about a mystery wrasse for my tank. 120 with clams a purple tang, anthias,royal gramma and a hawkfish. I don't plan on adding other wrasses. suggestions????

I have 400G SPS Reef Tank.
Got one Mystery Wrasse, died after one week.

It never eat anything and always fight with Scott Fairy Wrasse and Six Line wrasse.

I wish I can keep it alive, mystery wrasse is soooo beautiful color, despite is so Expensive in Indonesia (USD 300).

adrianto, maybe you wanna buy it over here in singapore. currently we keep on having stocks of mystery wrasse, and 1 cost around 93.75usd, i just helped my friend got his at 84usd, a small one at 2". i use the rate 1sgd:1.60usd

You need to get rid of the other two wrasses first before you add the mystery. probably the reason the last one died.

C. lineatus are beautiful, peaceful and tough. Probably the best all-round choice. However, HAVE LIDS.

are mystery wrasses jumpers?. I have a 200 gallon with no other wrasses. a couple green chromises, a naso tang and kole tang, a royal gramma and 4 lyretail anthias. in reading this they are described as agressive . How do you think it will do??

well adding it after the gramma is better. I think it would do fine but the gramma is my concern. chromis will kill each other and they are $3 so I dont really consider those a problem. They can jump as most wrasses can but usually caused from aggression.
