mystery wrasse

C'mon folks ... everyone has their own opinion and we really shouldn't be bashing each other around.

I personally don't shop at 6th Avenue just because I don't like their business practice, but that's just me - for me it's a matter of principle. I've had friends who have purchased fish from 6th Avenue without any problems.

To each their own

hahha i just wanted to know if you would put a fish like that in a 24 AP. if i was concerned about the price i would have been more surprised and wouldn't be considering it. i mean if someone has the means, who cares? but i agree Tube rider, this is funny!

You are a cheapie, your the only one complaining about price. I payed $200 for mine last year from Aquarium Concepts. I've seen them online now for between $179 - 249. Go pull some pennies out of your friends sofa cushions and head on down to Safeway and try to bargain for a steak for dinner. Then when they tell you to get lost go down the street and buy it from the guy selling Omaha Steaks out of his van.

MMMMMMMMMM Omaha Steaks

OK... Breath everyone... In with the good air, out with the bad...

On a side note: orientalexpress - ISNT CHEAP... All his equipment and live stock are all high end. He is also one of the nicest guys you can meet.

In any event, make sure your tank is covered (glass, clear mesh, egg-crate, etc) or your $100+ fish will be fish-jerky after a few hours drying out on your carpet.

3 friend's experience with 6th Avenue.

1. A well established 240g fish only tank with quarantine tank. Saw the biggest ocean caught Percula with excellent black between the white bars. Quarantined the fish for 2 weeks and then introduced it to his 240g display tank and within a few days both Ich and Odium showed up on the 6th Avenue fish. Couldn't catch him out, so had to treat the entire 240g instead and within days, all other clownfishes caught both Ich and Odium. All died within days and then spread to all the Tangs within the tank. Continual treatment, but all Tangs died and then spread to all Angelfishes, and all his Angelfishes died as well. Total wipeout of all clownfishes, tangs and angelfishes.

2. Bought a nice large Emperor Angelfish from 6th Avenue and by next morning it died within their quarantine tank. Went back to talke to the owner and he said, no warranties or credit. The Emperor came from their display tank, not a Sunday special and it was there for 3 days and was eating very well.

3. A lawnmower blenny was purchased at a Sunday lot special and introduced into an established reef tank... mistake! The lawnmower blenny brought Ich into a tank that has never had Ich. The blenny didn't make it, but Ich to this day still remains in the tank and shows up on the other fishes from time to time.

Sad stories. Buy your mystery wrasses elsewhere.

The take home message is quarantine all your fish for at least 6 weeks in hypo no matter where you bought them from. I bought a sohal tang for $80 at Atlantis, ich started to develope within a week, wipeed out my whole tank in a month. I have since then put every fish in quarantin tank for 40 - 42 days at 1.009 before introduce to the main tank.

Yep, you got it!

But my 2nd friend that lost his nice Emperor overnight. :( It was one expensive fish. Dave's only response was at least you didn't pay double for it somewhere else and lost it.

I have no problems shopping at 6th ave. The tanks there have been looking alot better lately imo. If your only experice with sick or dead fish is from 6th ave then you havent purchaced as fish as I have cause ime fish can have problems from any source. And whats up with everyone who hates on 6th ave liking lucky ocean? I went into lucky ocean expecting some great store. Lets just say i was more than dissapointed.
