Mystery Wrasse

Thank you for your nice comments. I got this fish from a local fish store for $160.

I use a Nikon D50 camera and Nikon 60mm lens. All photos were taken with flash (manual mode). HTH

Beautiful images of a gorgeous fish!! I love #2 (great catch) and #3 (love the angle and the detail of the eyes!

I had the opportunity to have one lately, but finally I resisted the temptation, because I was doubtful about him getting along with my 6 lines... Do any owners of this fish have it in the same tank than a 6 lines? How are they getting along?

Ha.

Do NOT, I repeat, NOT put one in with a Sixline.

We were assured the Mystery would get along with our Sixline, but as soon as the lights came on the next morning, the Sixline terrorized the Mystery. We wound up taking the whole tank apart to catch the little bugger. (They are extremely fast and love to hide.)

We finally got him, but not until all of the LR was out of the tank, along with the rest of the fish.

We took him back to the LFS and now our Mystery lives in peace.

... I do miss the Sixline, though. I wish we could have kept them together.

Any regrets on buying the 60mm 2.8D? The 105 gives more reach, but for another $300. If you had it to do over again would you spend the $700 on the 105mm VR?

Crazy good photo's. What aperture & SS were those taken with?

Sorry to hear that! I do know that Six line's can be bullies...

Very nice pics you got there. I have a question...

Do the blue highlights on the tail fin and dorsal fin come in with age. I am trying to determine whether my mystery will show those features or if it is from another location, hence the difference in patterns.

Here is a shot of mine taken recently. My pic looks like it was taken with a 1960 Polaroid compared to the pics you have. Nice shootin Tex!

Thanks kanicky for the advice!!! Too bad for your mean 6lines! Well, I won't take the chance, now I know. And I don't want to risk to loose a $300 fish within 24 hours...

Jabol, my wife came too the LFS with me yesterday to pick out a couple fish (she was not looking at the prices, just the fish and if they were "Pretty") She picked out 3 (well 5 actually but I had to nix two of them due to compatibility), two of which were wrasses and one of those two were the Mystery. She then picked out a couple corals...

Man, what a great trip to have her pick out some nice stuff which gave me that "Permission" too spend. :)

Now I need you too come by and get some good shots for me :p
