naka, aren't you worried about killing the run time and life of your BB for when you really need it (a power outage) by running it on the battery for 20 minutes, every 20 minutes?

Using the battery as a faux-wavemaker will not harm our drivers. to the best of my knowledge it also has minimal if any inpact on the battery itself. However, I'll let Andy chime in on the effect to the battery as that's more his specialty.

That is what Tim (ecotech marine) said regarding bb wavemaker. I'll try this until the controller comes out. I don't think it's going to burn out the battery by then. Even if it does, you can send it back for a replacement for like $45.

Well Houston finally got cold for the first time this year 32 degrees. Most of school and business closed due to icy roads.
I know 32 deg. is not that bad, but Houston shuts down when you see ice on the streets. So, I stayed home yesterday to take some pics. Enjoy!

Hey James,

Nice Pictures, yeah we got down to 28 degrees and had 1/2 inch of ice. Thank goodness I haad a Generator.
Is that a Ponape Torch Birdsnest, nice. Do you have a small frag of that?

Thanks,
Leon

at the beginning you said that your tank was running relatively cool, and your chiller hadn't turned on yet. Is it still running cool enough without the chiller?

Having an open top tank helps w/ cooling. It's really cold in Houston right now, but still my tank runs 76 w/ heater. During the summer, my chiller does come on, but only briefly through out the day. My house temp is around 76 summer and 68 winter. Electricity bill has never been above $180.

How do you pull that off, my electric bill is 300 to 400 a month, but I am with a CoOp and cannot change providers like you guys in Houston.

Do you vent your fish room to the attic?
