Hello fellow reefers, I was wondering if anyone could tell me the name of this anemone, I think it might be a bubble tip, but I'm hoping it will let my Black & White percula host him... Also how fast does he grow?

Here is a picture:

Thanks for the help tonight...

Thats what I thought too, I was just makeing sure, I got him today at the LFS for a really good deal, he was a nice size and looked very healthy. Thanks for the input ClownNut

It looks like it is a BTA having a hard time. If the white I see in their center is an open mouth and stomach tissue showing, that is a sign of stress. The tentacles look too translucent and shortened. It may need some TLC to bring it back to full health. The critical factors seem to be stable water parameters and no nitrated nitrites or ammonia. That is hard to achieve in a new tank, but is what you need to strive for to give this guy the best possible chance.

It doesn't look horrible, but definitely could look better. I agree with Flighty. It needs a little TLC.. keep paramaters in check, feed it.. and pray for the best. If you REALLY want it to live, and thrive... then you'll do what it takes :)

I've done nightly water tests, and everything is fine in my tank, I do water changes everyweek of 5 gallons, and only us RO water for top off's, I've been adding calicum every other day, and I bought some mysis shrimp to feed the tank here and their.

The BTA is doing fine and his mouth is no longer open like flighty said it looked like, I think that was only from buying him and putting him in my tank, even though I did do drip acclimation. But he is doing fine and my Black & white percula has even been very interested in him... Thanks for the help you guys.

Great to hear. They do gape sometimes when you acclimate them and frequently lose some color just from shipping. I wasn't sure how long it had been in there. Good luck with the perc hosting. We'll need pics of the happy couple :D
