name that macro....

I have been searching up and down for what kind of algae this is. The LFS sold it as "grape kelp". $9 for a bunch!!! Stupid purchase but I want to know what it is more then anything. Any ideas?

kevin is most likely right on that one. not a "Stupid purchase"... possibly a stupid LFS though if they said it was grape anything. one of the best macros period though. not pretty but a great addition to any fuge.

FWIW I had some in my refugium under a 10K 55W power compact and just couldn't get it to grow - switched to a 6700K bulb, and now it's loving it!

I have a clump of it in my main tank since it doesnt attach itself to anything. I have 250w 15k MH I havent really noticed it growing extremely fast or out of control. Im sure it will need break in time then it will pick up in growth. It's an interesting algae...kinda like tumbleweed.
