The inspiration for this thread is the day i brought home my yellowhead sleeper. As soon as he went in the tank, the firefish swam over to him and they have been inseperable ever since. They are together all day, and sleep in the same burrow. What is up with this?! The firefish even goes to the sandbed with the goby when he cleans it! I'd be interesting to find out other odd pairings in our tanks :-) So whaddya got??

my foxface. When he's stressed out he hangs with the clowns by the elegance coral. He really needs to shoal with some other fish to feel at ease

In my old among I had a 4.5" emperor who was buddies with a 3" queen. I had a 6" gray that would try and pick on the queen but the emperor would defend her! They were always together and I never saw them fight. Wish I didn't move and could have kept them.

I have a blue hippo and tailspot blenny that hang out in the green hairy mushrooms with my pair of evil nemos (black and white clowns). I think the mushrooms are the neighborhood hangout. :)

Its a trio in my case.. my hippo tang thinks its a gold striped maroon clown... when i put the hippo in the tank he went straight for the pair of gsm clownfish and he has been with them every since..even mimics the clown actions

in a prior set up i had a purple tang that was introed into the tank at the same time as a scribbled angel and moorish idol... if any fish even headed in the direction of the scrib or idol the purple tang would place himself between the the "other fish" and the idol or scrib..the 3 were together constantly

wow, a hippo that thinks he's a clown? that must be hilarious to watch! It really does seem that there is a place in every tank that fish hang out at. Mine seems to be my zoo rock, everyone ends up there during the day, and the rest of my tank is fishless :)

I have a pair of clowns that were best friends with a bi-color blenny that thought he was one of them.

swissguard basslet and a blue assesor

I have had these two fish only in my 46gal bowfront for about 1 year.
At first one fish claimed the right side and the other had the left side of the tank as their turf. Now these two hang out and swim around the tank together looking for food. It is an interesting friendship!
