Nano Agressive Fish

Odd question, but what if any agressive fish would be considered to be sustainable in a nano tank and what minimum size tank would it be? i was just contemplating if their are any fish maybe tiny triggers or puffers? anglers perhaps

Any of the small scorpionfish would work (like hawaiian leaf scorpionfish), or a small angler fish (A. pictus). Just remember w/ any of the meat eaters that they make a fair amount of metabolic watse, even thou they are sedentary fish, so you'll need to keep an eye on water quality. Lastly, most predators require meaty foods- so again keep an eye on the water quality

Hawkfish - some get a tad on the large side but most stay 3 - 4 inches and mostly perch and swoop much like their namesake. Put in a few small feeder shrimp and watch the show!

I have a lyretail hawk in my big reef and I would reccomend them with caution as they get a bit aggressive with other fish. The cool thing is they spend a lot more time swimming in open water and almost look like an anthias - you can actually find them feeding with anthias schools in the wild.

Note even though I said nano aggressvie fish I'd still keep maybe one of these fish in a 29 minimum - also a cover is helpful since they can get quite a lot of air if the mood hits them!

Anglers

Anglers

I keep anglers in each of my 24G nano's They dont mind at all, but they do eye each other:eek:

Most Anglers will stay small enough for a 24G

It's not a fish, but a small mantis in a nano is awesome. I have a N. wennerae in the 12 gallon nano cube on my desk. Its neat behaviors and clicking keep me watching it throughout the day.

So do we, AWESOME animal with a ton of personality.

are we forgetting --pound for pound champ --the domino damsel?!

those steeni pseudochromis (sri lankan) or vampire pseudochromis, or the oblique lined pseudochromis are terrors according to my dottyback book

they should look cool all red and black

every pic i 've seen shows them displaying a jawful of mean front canines. I think there is a pick of one in the show your aggressive fish thread -- red head w/ black body

the author of the dottyback book --scott said it beat up his marine betta
