ive kept clams in nano's, but it sounds like your getting ahead of yourself. plan one tank at a time and youll be happier in the end.
as per your question, when deciding weather or not to keep clams, you must consider lighting, water quality / stability, type of clam, and size of the actual clam. the size of the tank only matters as it relates to the above criteria.
