I am setting up a 10"x10"x10" cube with a 10 gallon sump w/ a small heater and some macro algae. The cube will be made of acrylic and have a starboard bottom so no sand will be flyin' around. I am planning on just taking some lr out of my 58. No corals are going to be kept for a while until I can gets some lights and i will probably just have a neon goby or pipefish with a few hermit crabs as livestock.

-1st of all for the overflow can I just drill a hole in the bottom with no overflow box and just put something over the hole so that stuff doesnt get sucked up? If so how big would you recomend the hole being.

-Next, i have a hagen 402 powerhead capable of 250 gph. If i split this into two returns will this be enogh flow? Btw the tanks volume is about 4 gal.

THis is all I can think of now but if anythin else i need to consider comes to mind let me know.

thanx

I would not suggest just doing a drain because if you do and your pump fails, power goes out, something of that sort your entire tank will drain down and will be on your floor. I suggest if you are going to put in a drain like that put an overflow around it.
