Nano pump flow

I've got a jbj, running a marineland 1200 pump in the sump to a hydor spinning flow thing.

main question being, i want to add a mp10 or a innovative marine Wavelink as a wave maker. with the marineland running 300gph, will it be too high of flow for things like kenya tree, torches, hammers, shrooms etc that i've got in there?

i really want to get some sort of wave flow to help keep the detritus suspended a bit better, currently i'm running a small hydor koralia mostly behind the rocks to help with this. I'm also battling the Euphyllia not doing well and i'm concerned too much flow is the cause for this.

I keep hearing the 5-10K water flow number and with just the 1200 I'm already there, there's just some dead spots here and there.

edit (not 5-10K water flow, 5-10X water flow)

also, for informational purposes i'm running a tunze nano skimmer in the back and the skim adapter plate on the original jbj intake to draw water off the top of the tank instead of below the surface. This seems to work pretty well except it does reduce water volume in the tank, which i'm not a huge fan of. trying to figure out a way to mitigate that...

Dead spots is normal IME. There's dead spots, and then there's really DEAD spots. If the accumulation of detritus is on your mind it's really easy to remove though if your willing to do the work. FWIW I have a 20 gallon long with two Koralia Evolution 850's, an Aquaclear 30 I believe (HOB) and an AquaticLife 115 Internal skimmer in my tank. It's not as chaotic as one might think when you do the math. No problems, but a little more GPH wouldn't hurt. GL.

5x-10x is a recommended value for the flowrate for through the sump only.. aka how fast you are circulating water to and from the sump..

Total flow in the display tank from powerheads is commonly recommended at 30x or more..
Some high flow sps tanks run 75-100x..

I run an MP10 in a Fluval 13.5G AIO with no problem. It has never run more than half power in any mode but it does create great flow volume without adding much heat. The big advantage IMO is it’s low profile inside the tank and big power heads don’t get many appearance points in small tanks and this little pump has been moving water for 5 years in various tanks.

I ran 1 MP10 on my 20 Fusion, Dialed it down. Setup to drop off to a very lite wave at night. I also had upgraded the return pump.
