Nano RO unit

Hello,
I have a few questions about the Nano RO unit.

1) I live in New Zealand, where can I get it and its replacement parts?
2) How pure is the water that comes out of it compared with the larger units?
3) How often do I need to replace parts if I require about 40 litres a week?

Thank you

I would contact your distributor for ordering and parts-

The water quality is comparable to a larger high quality unit, it has a small membrane and carbon block but they function the same as a full size unit.

The prefilter should be changed every 3 months, the membrane should last at least 18 months and most likely 2-3 years if the prefilter is changed every few months and the source water is not excessively hard or overly chlorinated.

Thanks for the reply.
How pure is the water produced in terms of TDS or microseimens?
How effectively does it remove phosphates, silicates, nitrates and other algae-causing chemicals?

I will ask the factory what results they got from the TDS test. I only know it compared very favorably with the 8550 RO Station which uses a DOW membrane. If I recall it was actually slightly better but there are variations between membranes.

RO membranes in general remove Nitrate and Phosphate quite well, usually 92%+ is removed, but they don't do so well on silicate, typically 80-85% of silicate is removed by the RO process. This should be enough reduction to avoid algae blooms from small water changes or top off but if your source silicates are high you may see some diatoms on a new set up since so little silicate is required to fuel there growth. In this case a post DI filter will solve the problem but should only be needed for the initial fill and large waterchanges.

They didn't have any tests for the Nano, only no complaints. I tried it myself this morning and the result was 198ppm input was reduced to 16ppm product, this was a brand new dry unit run for only 30 minutes and usually they don't reach there optimum until the membrane has hydrated for a couple weeks so I would expect it to improve to about 12-14ppm.

Hey.
I am considering buying this because it is so small and fine. I have a 25gallons marine aquarium. I will use it on the crane on the washing machine in the bathroom. Tunze has the same price as the bigger products from other brands where I shop. Can you help me by giving me an objective opinion about which one I should choose? I just love the small size:)

Thank you :)

What you say is correct, the main advantage is it is very compact (about the size of a 16oz or 500ml glass) and clips quickly onto a faucet. Because it is all custom pieces and not the usual ready made components it is more expensive. The main place I see a big advantage is a tank in an office or small apartment because you can click it on a faucet and use it and when you are done it is easy to remove and put away.
