I have a sapphire in my AP 24, and think it's an excellent choice if you want to close your hood. for me, it started making skimmate in less than 12 hours. There are micro bubbles, which resolve after a few weeks (faster for some). The cup is small, and needs to be emptied daily or every other day. It's the only skimmer that will fit a NC with a stock hood that actually works.

i have the nc12 and the sapphire nano (the 12g version obviously). i'm very happy with it..

So far I have only heard good stuff about sapphire skimmers. Never had one myself.
