Nano Sps Keepers Please Help

I am setting up at least a 24g nano and I am wondering how hard it is to keep sps colorful, alive and growing. I have success with sps in my 125g, but was wondering how hard it is and what I need to consider.

PLEASE help me out here.

sps nanos are easier than one might think. theyre not as sensitive as people think. a guy i work with keeps acros in a 24g ap.

keep this in mind S.P.S (greg taught me this) Stability Promotes Sucess

Ca Mg Alk Temp things to think about when keeping sps

Thanks, and I already keep sps with success in a 125g, but I am wondering what I need to consider and how hard in is in a 20-30g tank.

I have a 10g mixed reef, with zoos, red brain, ora torts, everything. It has been up 4 over a year.CamBarr said it best"stability promotes success" My biggest problem is temp.I have only lost 1 sps since i started.A beautiful millipora at that.

I have few SPS in my 29 gallon. Purple Acro, Orange Monti Digi, Brown Monti Cap.
The digi and cap are going crazy in color and growth.
But the Purple Acro is now a "mainly brown" acro even though it is growing well.

I believe this is because of my lights, 130W PC.

So my advice would be to not use PCs if you're going to do Acros... unless of course others here have had success with the setup I've had.

Post a pic of your tank, also to help with temp swing which can inhibit growth and coloration try evaporative cooling via fans and using an ATO to keep up w/ evap

I have been trying to post a pic,but my computer is a piece,so i cant acess my photobucket account.I use a fan while the light is on,but i still get a 1-2 degree temp swing between nite,& day,im sure it does effect the growth of the corals, but nothing has showed signs of stress ,& i havent lost anything since the milipora,& that was over 5 months ago.I will post pics as soon as i fix my crappy computer.

IMO I would try to avoid useing evaporative cooling. With a smaller water volume that is one of the best ways to have large salinity swings. The other thing I would try to avoid is having a lot of SPS in there without a large sump...I'm haveing to add 90-100mL/day of each of my two part solutions..and I'm finding that I'm now batteling my pH a lot... I'm honestly thinking of adding a 50-60gal sump/prop tank to my 29gal tank to help stabalize it and to finally have someplace to put frags...

I alternate a drip of Kalkwasser and RO/DI from a 1400ml Kent Aquadose and have no trouble with PH swings.
My setup loses at least a quart or more of water a day and the salinity shows less than 0.001 if any difference in SpGr using a refractometer. I do not mess with expensive 2 part chemicals anymore as the kalk keeps dKH/Alk in check and the macro in the fuge keeps PH stable.

35 Hex - 14k 175 MH pendant, 100 Seaclone (I know but it works better than not having one) lots of live rock, lots of flow and 10-15% water changes once a week. Have had SPS 6-8 months and everything surviving and growing well except the Acro's which was due to me not knowing epoxy heats up.
