Nano Stream Placement in a 24AQ

I'm curious to see some pictures of some 24g's with nano streams in them so I can get an idea of ideal placement. It won't arrive for about another week so I have some time to think about this. I want to make sure I don't have any low flow area's as I've created some caves and tunnels for fish to swim in and out of and at the same time I don't want to create a sandstorm. Any experiences to share are appreciated.

No pics, but I have 1 in the back corner angled toward the center, pointing slightly up. Did have 2 going until I gave 1 to my son. I had them in opposite corners, pointed mostly toward the center.

My son had one in a 24 cube, and thought it was too much flow. He finally has it pointing mostly up, and toward the back of the tank.

You will probably get a sandstorm in any case, but just let it run, and it'll clear up.

I love my Nano Stream....

I was most curious about the sandstorm..if I will need to remove my sand or not. I want to see if anybody was succesful with sand. I opted no DSB because of my experiances with my 55 and having 35x's turn over in the display. But with the lack of height in a nano I'm thinking I might have to take the sand out.

Yes, my sons was in a 24g with sand. He said it creted quite a stir, and that's why he thoght it was too much flow.

He posted on the Tunze Forum, and was told it would settle down. It took a couple of days, but did just that, and been fine ever since.

Alright, well mines set to be delivered on Thursday so I should have some pictures next week on my experiances. I wish I still had my single tunze controller for it but ohwell.

Hanner: thanks for the flick. Looks like our tanks are in the same stage right now. Mine looks like it just finished cycling, all the algae is gone and now I just have some pretty rock.

Well it's been running for a few days now and honestly it didn't blow my tank away like when I added the tunze electronics to my 55. One 6045 with the replaced stock return pump seems just about right for a 24g reef tank. I think I'll need another if I decide to go SPS or maybe I'll try the mod I saw posted. It did raise the tank temperature a little, my tank gets up to 78.8 F where it was hovering around 77.8 F before and it is louder than the stock fans. It also goes in reverse whenever I start it up, I even let it go for a few minutes in reverse to see if it would right itself as I heard they would do. It seems the way to right it is if I put my hand over the exhaust to stop the intake flow and then it reverses and starts blowing. Not a big deal honestly, I'm happy with the pump and it's just what my tank needed. No real sand storm, but I did place it about 2-3 inches under the water line and angle it upwards so that the stream hits the surface at about the center of the tank. It did rearrange the sand "dunes" in the tank but there wasn't a crazy storm as if I just put water in for the first time. It's about the size of a tennis ball and I had to change my rock structure a little bit to fit it in a good spot but honestly I like the new structure more.

Next on the purchase list is probably the tunze doc skimmer and I'm thinking about purchasing the viper 14k MH clamp system. No moon light, but I like the idea of being able to put the light where I want and at what angle I want via the articulating arm. I can always purchase a clamp on moon light as well. Still debating.

[EDIT] I'd have pictures for you but my little 1.3 mega pixel camera phone is horrendous. Also on the purchase list is a nice camera from best buy Recomendations welcomed.

Thought I'd update with some video clips. The clowns got brook and perished about three weeks ago. There is a neon goby which you can see swimmin in the bottom left corner of the galaxia video and he's the only fish in there until I get back from Colorado April 2nd and I believe the brook should be gone. Youtube destroys the quality and I don't exactly have the steadiest of hands. What is in there though is, a super man at the tob which isn't viewable, a galaxia on the left, feather duster, candy canes which you can't see because of youtube, blue/red zoos, lobo, orange/yellow zoos on the right which are cut off. I'll try uploading some high rez shots when I get home...busted this from work I took off the stock hood and use a Viper clamp on halide 14k..150 or 175w I can't remember. I fit a tunze doc skimmer in the back overflow. Theres some rock back there also. Since I shot the video I've added some pink zoo's and 4 bright red blaso's with green mouths. Chuck 4000 is now 44 lbs at 5 months.
