Hi guys,
My nano tank has a sponge filter in the first compartment, and ceramic rings in second, bio-balls in last, so how often do you guys clean up the filter? thanks

Alex

Once a week on the sponge. But I would dump the bio-balls and rings.
Use a poly-filter and some rubble instead.
Don't forget your water-changes.

as much as possible. check out the nano section...alot of people remove all of them and put in LRs in the back.
thats what i do...

loose the sponge and use filter floss instead (replace weekly)

Loose the rings and bioballs and replace with live rock rubble

Exactly..maybe you can even buy a clip-on pc light and keep some Chaeto back there..

i don't like putting rubble in the back as it creates too much detritus. i prefer to hold chaeto and a skimmer in the bank. email me if you have any questions, i'll be glad to help.
