Here's my Nano 12 gal with stock lighting 48 watts...everthings very happy, frogspawn, candy cane, xenia, zoos and mushrooms. The lights are on 8 hours a day

Forgot to add.... I only have a surface skimmer...no protien skimmer. I have a small tomato clown and a huge brittle starfish ( see other pics in my gallery)...have fun

All you need for proper filtration for a nano is a protein skimmer, live rock (1lb./gal.), and live sand (1.5lb./gal.). You will have 4 watts/gal. if you run 2-24 watt PC's . That is good enough to keep mushrooms and zoas, but you might want to ry to jump up to 6 watts/gal. if you want any SPS.

As Volcmreefer said, two 24 watt compacts should be fine if you'd like to keep soft corals and some LPS. If that's all you're looking to keep, that should be fine.
