Nano with sump

Is it okay to have a 15 gallon nano tank with a 10 gallon sump under it? I'm building my own tank and was afraid building a 25 gallon one will lead to a leaking tank with the bottom falling out, so I'm dividing it in two.
Is it weird to have the sump be almost as big as the tank?

not at all, the more water volume the better This will also help maintain issues that you might have. As they say, "dilution is the solution to pollution"

I have seen some of the hardcore nano guys with 5 gallon displays connected to a 100 gallon sump. Like glxtrix said the more water volume the better.

Hope no one minds that I joined in on this conversation. I had set this past weekend aside to build a sump for my 24 gallon nano cube. I was told that it will not working without a flow to gravity feed the sump instead of pumping the water from the display tank to the sump. I went into the idea of using two pumps to complete the sirculation of water. rio 1400 pump to sump...rio 2500 to chiller and back to display.

I am in need of some help with other opinions. Again, I hope no one minds that I added myself to this thread. Thanks.

you'll need some type of overflow setup, wether it be like this in the pic http://richpoorman.com/aquaria/diy/images/overflow.jpg or something that you rig to get water out of your disp and into the sump. Those are usually gravity fed and then you have a pump in the sump to pump water back into the tank. If you have a hood on your cube your going to have to get a lil tricky and figure a way to plum it all.

Yup. The advice you recieved is correct. There is no reasonable way you can exactly match the outflow and inflow from two pumps(one could use floatswitches, but wow, that would overcomplicate a simple matter).

Two options:

Get your display drilled - reliable, prefered option, not always possible.

Siphon overflow - can be risky. I don't use one so you'll have to ask arround for guys with expierience for the best types/brands
