Nanobox?

jmsalt, your patience is commendable.

However, as a customer, I don't feel it is annoying to expect a response within a few days of asking a question. My experience has been different than yours - I've had 2 occasions where I never received any response.

I'm also not 'pestering him every other day'. The fact is that I've been waiting 3 months for these nanobox controllers to be released. In February, when I purchased my units, Dave told me that these controllers would be 'released soon'. I don't consider 3+ months to be 'soon'.

jlogan,

I totally understand your frustration. My comments about "pestering him every other day" were not a shot at you directly, just a general comment about how some folks operate when they are waiting on something from vendor. IME over time in this hobby and life in general I've found that waiting patiently once I have made a decision about a product/vendor usually results in a better product/result/long term relationship than pushing to hard and getting something that might have been rushed to market or rushed to be completed.

Hope things work out to your liking when all is said and done.

Sorry to have to resurrect this thread, but after another 5 months of no controller option for my Nano Box Reef Duo lights (making 8 months total), I have finally asked Dave Fason for a refund.

In addition to the fact that I question whether the lights are actually capable of growing SPS in a 90 gal. tank (placing T5s over it as a test yielded better results), I have just plain grown too weary for the continual empty promise of controllability.

I'm Hoping Dave will follow through with my refund request.

No problem circling back to this one. I too returned the unit he shipped that actually had the onboard controller, it was not as robust as I felt it should be at that price point. I was one of 5-10 people at the time that had it with the onboard controller and USB connection. He did a full refund but I only had the fixture a couple days before making the call. Since that time he has not produced them at any volume due to some issues with the supplier of the controllers.

I kept a discounted Mono Box (manual independent dimming of the blues & whites/red) that I have been experimenting with but the jury is still out on it.

I anticipate new pico / nano LED fixtures that will be superior with regards to control and spectrum at roughly the same price in the next 6-12 months. I plan to make a move on one of them when they roll out, eager to see the Illuminata from Vertex featured on RB and hope to see an updated version of the AI Nano as well during that time frame.

Hope it works out for you.
