NanoCube, Aquapod

hey im looking to startup a minireef and was wondering which LFS in the bay area has the best selection on nano cubes. Im really looking for nothing smaller than a 12 gallon. Maybe a 24 gallon if i can find the room for it. A few months back i converted my 50 gallon reef to an aggressive fowlr and miss having a reef. Id rather setup another tank than convert back to a reef because i really do enjoy having my predators. Any help would be great. Also if you have a used one id be willing to take it off your hands. Thanks

Aquatic Gallery has both 12g and 24g NanoCubes. If you're interested in a 12g nanocube, Im breaking one down right now. PM me if interested.

All About Fish in Concord sells small tanks. I purchased my JBJ 12DX from them. I bellieve they changed brands. I don't know what the new brand is.

Good luck.

If you are able LA soon, you can buy a 12 g nano cube for $119+tax at Atlantic Tropical Aquarium in 18343 Pioneer Bl.Artesia, CA, 1-562-924-7567, They are selling on Craigslist some ridiculous prices for tanks, and I just happen to be having lunch next to their store and found that they are selling those tanks at the stated prices with no "catch". I picked up a 12 g nano dx on saturday. They told me that JBJ or their distributor or something is giving them trouble for selling their tanks at such a low price.

Buy used, save the cash. It'll be used once you open it anyhow;)

I own the 12g NC and if you want an opinion I think if you go with either tank you need to add a second flow outlet. I drilled out a second hole mid-center in the back of the plastic divider and I run two pumps (mj600 + mj900 on a hydor) and this gives me decent flow. Without the second outlet, flow from just the corner doesn't move the water well enough even with the hydor, imo.

Also, both of these are known to run hot without modifications done on them. I wouldn't know as I run mine topless with the jbj viper 70w lamp.

Additionally, the 24g nanocubes have had the most cracking problems so you might want to consider that as well.

12 gal cube $99 at NATURAL LIFE AQUARIUM in sunnyvale.

Im assume its not the deluxe model of the cube. thanks for the heads up anyways.

I have never used the Aquapod, only the NC. Can't comment on that q.

As for the dx vs the regular model. I gather you don't plan to upgrade the lighting? If that is the case you'll probably be able to do some softies and maybe lps in the dx, and I wouldn't bother with the regular model at all. But, if you are planning to upgrade the lights, just buy the regular model, save the $.
