I was going to ask about the overflow issue, but you beat me to the punch.:D I love that Brain pic. I almost bought an orange plate like yours the other day, but I decided to hold off for now. Did you watch the "Coral Feeding" time elapsed slide shows? Way cool:

That's too cool! Thanks for the link. I love my orange plate you should get one!

that is a cool shot with the clowns in it. i love sun coral too. how often are you feeding?

Thanks :) I feed it about every two to three days usually. I'll feed it the first round then wait to they all open back up again and feed them again. Sometimes they get round 3 :)

Thanks :)

I've had them since late January of this year. They are a really fun pair and very friendly. They always come to the front of the tank to beg when I'm near, and will follow you across the room. When I put my hands into the tank to do stuff they come right over to your fingers and will even let you touch them sometimes. It's cute.

The one with the unique pattern is Orca and the other is Eight Ball. They are turning into a male/female pair and are always together. I've even noticed the female starting her mating signs, which seems really odd due to her size. But they are fun to watch.

Thursday Update!

Well tonight was very productive for my tank. We got a lot done so I'm feeling a lot better about it now after all the set backs we've had. Mainly coral bleaching and the sump/flushing problems.

Problem/Fix #1:

Our skimmer has not been working very good... really at all. It's the ASM G3 skimmer and it's been a few weeks now and the break in should be over. I think what the problem was is that it was sitting in too deep of water and therefore was not very effective. Previously it was sitting in just about 13 inches of water.

So my bf built this stand to sit the skimmer/pump on. It really helped the performance from what I could tell. The same setting in 13" was not really strong, but on the stand it shot the water all over the place. We have already noticed alot more increase in production inside the skimmer at least.

Here is the eggcrate stand that he built. Held together with twisty ties. It has a support running down the middle to help with the weight.

Another view. The skimmer now sits in just about 10" of water.

It was a tight fit getting the stand into place but it fit perfectly.

Very nice NG, I just did the Mesh Mod on my G2 with gutter guard and love the improvement.

I've been following along for a few weeks now and like what you have done. Keep up the good work.

If you want to keep your clowns away from your sun corals food... cut a two liter bottle in half, keeping only the top half and target feed with a turkey baster or something simmilar through the top spout and leave the bottle on for about a half hour so that the sun coral can eat.. heres a pic

Now you're doing the spoiling! Those are some pretty pampered Sun corals, NanoGurl, and they look great because of it!

I'm glad that you got your skimmer situation figured out. I love ASM skimmers.

Thanks NinaStarr. I've seen that done before but haven't had to do it myself yet. It doesn't bug me when my fish come over, I think it's cute. BTW, your sun corals are BEAUTIFUL! :)
