Very nice. Glad to see your PBT hanging in there. A fat fish is a healthy fish, glad to see he's puttin' on the pounds (or ounces in this case). I learned that from father Melev. :D

lol :)

Thanks, yea he seems to be getting fat in a good way.. not bloated hopefully.. which I know can be bad... but I think he's just starting to fill out. He came in skinny when I got him.. which is another reason why I think they sent me the fish with black ich.. but i'll update as soon as i know anything!

Yep, nori is a wonderful thing. For one tang, a 1/4 of a sheet would be plenty per day, or even every other day.

Yea, for right now bc of how he's been sick and skinny, i've kept a piece of dried seaweed on a clip for him everyday. He eats and pecks at it all day. In addition I've been giving him a mix of flakes, frozen and cyclopeeze also.. every other feeding or so i soak it with garlic.. and i'm going to be ordering a few new treats for him... trying to give a wide variety to help with his immune system.

I am determined to be one of the people that keep a PBT darnit!!!

Its good to hear ocean is doing alot better :)

As for the dips, just be carefull if the fish does look exhausted. My experience is a loss with trying the dips to close together and when the fish is stressed. Saying that, your little fella looks pretty happy.

Cheers

Chris

Thanks :)

Yea, I agree wtih you. I think especially with stress it can be really bad for them. My scopas instantly went into shock.. she couldn't handle it. After the 2nd dip I was determined to take out the PBT if he didn't do well.. but he acted like the first time where he swam around just fine.. good color and everything.. so I was happy about that.

I ended up taking mine back to my LFS about a month ago, and it's still up there at the store. They are SO beautiful, but mine would even take bites out of my Tube anemone's tube! I kept it over in a 30 gal with a True Perc clownfish pair, and it made a nice display, but eventually I grew tired of the dual tank maintenance. Anyway, I was just wondering...

Do those Sugar Dogs come with full blooded registration papers, or are they just mutt bred Wal-Mart parking lot "Free to Good Home" Sugar Dogs?

lol... no you have to have a special license to breed and own them :) Or certified nut case like me (:

Yea, that's my problem... i don't want to have another tank up and running for just the peel... but i don't want to get rid of it either. I want another nano but she won't live in that so grrrr!

Sugar dogs are the newest designer breed, haven't you all heard?

Glad to see that Ocean's doing good. What a beautiful fish! :)

Thanks! :) I'm trying!

Hey NG

Im probably classed as more of a reader than a poster and really glad your carrying your thread on.

Im watching your PBT closely, but could you tell me what size it is and wether it was eating well when you bought it?

How does it cope with your its other tankmates?

Bit off topic but loving the doggies pics. May well post my "bea"r if he stays still long enough.

Cheers

Pete

So you had problems with your peel picking at your corals, this is not good i may need to re think getting one..

I would def not get one if you have corals. I think way more then not they eat and peck away at corals and can be aggressive. I don't know about mimic tangs.. i think they may be a bit better? No blue around their eyes.. but if I remember correctly you may have a better chance with that. Though it's still an angel so be very cautious!

Thanks :) Def post up if you get a good photo! Always welcome here.

Ocean is about 3" right now. I will try and get something more exact later today when he wakes up. I wanted the smallest one I could get for two reasons:

1. My tank is a 75. Too small for a big PBT. I am hoping he won't "outgrow" the tank until next summer when my new tank can be setup.

2. My hope was a baby tang taken out of the ocean that didn't grow up used to the ocean would be less stressed as an adult in a SW tank. My theory is that larger tangs that are used to all the open ocean and then confined into a small box would be much more stressed then a smaller one not as accustomed to it. I have no idea if that's correct or not, but it was a theory of mine.

Plus they are just so cute small!!! :)

He arrived looking very pretty but with scarring and a little thin. I believe he came in with black ich, as none of my other fish had it and I had had them for awhile before I got him. He did okay at first but I think the stress of two tangs in the tank caused both tangs to stress out. Even though they were both small and lots of room to swim, they both wanted the same cave and would chase each other out of it.. thus adding to stress.

He did not eat the first day at all if I remember correctly. After that, he started to eat. Since he's been eating he's been eating for me non stop. I give him lots of garlic and dried seaweed clip to graze on all day, in additoin to the feeding and LR algae he pecks at.

I would have never got two tangs if I had known we were going to get a PBT. Originally we were going to get a PBT, but decided not to so we went with the scopas. After having the scopas for awhile and not really enjoying her, we decided to risk the ich issue and try a PBT at least once. At that point we had already had the scopas and felt bad about getting rid of it.. so we tried it out. They really seemed to do okay at times.. but i think the black ich did them in. It was just too much stress along with the ich and a small tank. I would never do it again.

I was prepared for reg. ich battle, but the black ich totally caught me off guard. I didn't even know it existed.

9 more posts until the split - and no, you can't do anything to stop it. ;)

However on Page 1 of the next section, you could post a summation of the tank with a few pictures as a nice update.

I can't say it enough, awesome thread NG, more power to young female reefers! Girls DO rule! :)

Glad you're posting againg. Have you trained your sun corals to open up while the lights are on?

Thanks :)

Yea, my suns usually open up in the later part of the evening when they start to feel hungry, or whenever I throw certain types of food into the tank.

For those that don't know, a great tip to getting sun corals to open up is to put a piece of raw shrimp into the tank and wave it around close to them for a minute. This works every time for me when I am in a rush and want them to open to feed them. Usually I just wait until I see them open though.

But yea, sun corals are a lot of fun and beautiful corals for any tank. Thanks for asking :)

A/C Went Out!

Well our A/C was down for a day on one of the hottest days we've had here yet this year. It went out last night and through the afternoon today. It was 82 in my room before we got it working again.

Luckily the tank only got up to 84 so everyone is fine. I had to turn off the lights though after a few photos.

Hopefully by tonight the A/C will have caught up and we won't be sweating all night again! Ugh!

Oh my! Keep us updated on the temp and hopefully nothing is worse for wear.

Think Cool Thoughts!

Thanks! I hear thunder now so hopefully that will help cool things off. I've been keeping an eye on everything and nobody seems stressed.
